How does it work?

This exposure helps the body build up immunity to the allergen and eventually reduces the allergic reaction. The exposure is typically delivered via injections, but can also be delivered sublingually (under the tongue) or via oral drops.
The length of treatment varies, but typically lasts three to five years. During this time, the patient receives increasing doses of the allergen, usually once a week. The length and frequency of treatment are determined by the severity of the allergy and the individual’s response to the therapy.
It has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of allergic conditions, including hay fever, asthma, and insect sting allergies. In some cases, the therapy can even lead to long-term remission of symptoms and a decreased need for medications.
Side Effects
It is important to note that allergy immunotherapy can cause side effects, including:

- Redness
- Swelling at the injection site
- Headache
- Dizziness
However, these side effects are usually mild and can be managed with over-the-counter medications.
